What is "Positive Discipline?" Discipline involves teaching and guiding children.
Positive discipline focuses on what you want children to do rather than what you don’t want them to do.
The purpose of positive discipline is to teach. Through positive discipline children have opportunities to learn about themselves and others, about empathy and compassion, problem-solving and communication skills, and about self-regulation and flexibility.
Through positive discipline children learn that they are capable, that they can make amends when they make mistakes and that mistakes are opportunities for learning.
Positive discipline allows children to move from adult control to self-control and gives children the experience that they are competent learners.
